Nati nel 1984 come Manic Subsidal, pubblicano solo una canzone prima di cambiare nome in The Offspring nel 1985. La band si inserisce nella scena punk rock californiana con un sound influenzato da Black Flag, Bad Religion e Germs.
Il successo: Il loro primo album, “Smash” (1994), ottiene un enorme successo commerciale, vendendo oltre 11 milioni di copie solo negli Stati Uniti. Singoli come “Come Out and Play”, “Self Esteem” e “She’s Got a Problem” diventano inni generazionali.
Ma è con Americana (1998) che spiccano il grande salto anche per il boom della hit Pretty Fly (for a white guy) che sbanca anche col suo video iconico. Il loro ultimo album, “Let the Bad Times Roll” (2021), segna un ritorno a un suono più punk rock.
