Bio e Storia dei Megadeth
I Megadeth sono un gruppo heavy metal statunitense fondato a Los Angeles, California, nel 1983 dal chitarrista e cantante Dave Mustaine, dopo la sua espulsione dai Metallica.
I Megadeth sono considerati uno dei “Big Four” del thrash metal, insieme a Metallica, Slayer e Anthrax. La band ha pubblicato 16 album in studio, vendendo oltre 38 milioni di dischi in tutto il mondo.
Mustaine è l’unico membro stabile della band dalla sua fondazione. Gli altri membri attuali sono il bassista James LoMenzo, il batterista Dirk Verbeuren e il chitarrista Kiko Loureiro.
I Megadeth hanno sviluppato un sound caratterizzato da riff pesanti, tempi veloci e testi spesso politici o satirici. La band è stata elogiata per la sua abilità tecnica e per la sua intensità live. I Megadeth hanno pubblicato il loro album di debutto, “Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good!”, nel 1985. L’album ha ricevuto un’accoglienza positiva dalla critica e ha venduto oltre un milione di copie negli Stati Uniti.
Il successo del gruppo è continuato con l’album “Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?”, pubblicato nel 1986. L’album ha raggiunto il numero 29 nella Billboard 200 e ha venduto oltre due milioni di copie negli Stati Uniti.
I Megadeth hanno continuato a pubblicare album di successo negli anni ’90, tra cui “Rust in Peace” (1990), “Countdown to Extinction” (1992) e “Youthanasia” (1994). La band ha avuto un periodo di difficoltà negli anni 2000, caratterizzato da cambi di formazione e problemi personali di Mustaine. Tuttavia, la band è tornata sulla cresta dell’onda negli anni 2010, pubblicando album di successo come “Endgame” (2009) e “Dystopia” (2016).
Da citare anche Vic Rattlehead, la mascotte ufficiale della band un po’ nella scia di Eddie degli Iron Maiden.
