Origine: Saarbrücken, Germania
Powerwolf è stata fondata nel 2003 a Saarbrücken, in Germania, da due fratelli gemelli, Matthew Greywolf e Charles Greywolf. La band ha acquisito notorietà grazie al loro stile musicale che combina il power metal melodico con tematiche liriche incentrate su mitologia, religione, vampiri e folklore gotico.
La band è nota per le loro esibizioni dal vivo intense e spettacolari, spesso caratterizzate da un’immagine gotica e teatrale, che ha contribuito a creare una base di fan appassionati.
