Bio e Storia dei Mudhoney
I Mudhoney sono una band grunge statunitense formatasi nel 1988 a Seattle, Washington. Nonostante la data di nascita ufficiale, la loro storia è strettamente legata a un’altra band fondamentale della scena: i Green River.
I Green River, nati nel 1984, annoveravano tra i suoi membri Mark Arm (voce) e Steve Turner (chitarra), che sarebbero poi diventati il nucleo dei Mudhoney. La band era considerata pioniera del suono grunge, caratterizzato da distorsioni aggressive e influenze punk e heavy metal. Nel 1987 i Green River si sciolsero, ma da quelle ceneri nacquero due formazioni destinate al successo: Mudhoney e Pearl Jam.
Jeff Ament (basso) e Stone Gossard (chitarra) dei Green River fondarono infatti i Pearl Jam, che avrebbero raggiunto una fama planetaria. I Mudhoney, invece, mantennero un approccio più underground e ruvido rispetto ai Pearl Jam. Il loro nome, a dispetto di quanto si pensi, non è un riferimento all’album omonimo dei Creedence Clearwater Revival, bensì al film omonimo del regista Russ Meyer.
Nel 2023 è uscito il loro ultimo album Plastic Eternity.
