Bio e Storia dei Metallica
I Metallica sono un gruppo musicale heavy metal statunitense, formatosi a Los Angeles nel 1981 e composto da James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett e Robert Trujillo. La storia dei Metallica inizia nel 1981, quando il batterista Lars Ulrich, un adolescente danese trasferitosi a Los Angeles, risponde a un annuncio pubblicato da un bassista alla ricerca di un chitarrista e un cantante. Il bassista è Cliff Burton, e il chitarrista è James Hetfield, un amico di Lars che si era appena trasferito a Los Angeles dalla California settentrionale.
I tre musicisti iniziano a suonare insieme e presto reclutano il chitarrista Lloyd Grant, che però lascia la band dopo pochi mesi. Al suo posto subentra Kirk Hammett, un giovane chitarrista della Bay Area.
I primi anni
I Metallica pubblicano il loro primo album, Kill ‘Em All, nel 1983. L’album è un successo di critica e di pubblico, e contribuisce a definire il sound del thrash metal.
Nel 1984, i Metallica pubblicano il loro secondo album, Ride the Lightning. L’album è ancora più maturo e sperimentale del precedente, e contiene alcuni dei brani più iconici della band, come “Fade to Black” e “For Whom the Bell Tolls”.
Il successo commerciale
Nel 1986, i Metallica pubblicano il loro terzo album, Master of Puppets. L’album è un successo commerciale senza precedenti per un gruppo heavy metal, e raggiunge la posizione numero 29 della classifica Billboard 200. Master of Puppets è considerato uno dei più grandi album heavy metal di tutti i tempi, e ha influenzato generazioni di musicisti.
Gli anni ’90
Nel 1991, i Metallica pubblicano il loro quarto album, Metallica. L’album, noto anche come “The Black Album”, è un successo commerciale ancora più grande di Master of Puppets, e raggiunge la prima posizione della classifica Billboard 200. The Black Album è un album più melodico e accessibile rispetto ai precedenti lavori della band, e contribuisce a portare il thrash metal a un pubblico più mainstream. IL disco contiene i due successi storici della band: Enter Sandman e Nothing Else Matters.
Gli anni 2000
Negli anni 2000, i Metallica continuano a pubblicare album di successo, tra cui Load (1996), Reload (1997), St. Anger (2003) e Death Magnetic (2008). Nel 2009, i Metallica pubblicano il loro primo album dal vivo, Death Magnetic: Live at Download. L’album è registrato durante il Download Festival del 2009, e contiene una selezione dei brani più famosi della band.
Gli anni 2010
Nel 2016, i Metallica pubblicano il loro undicesimo album in studio, Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. L’album è un ritorno al thrash metal dei primi anni, e viene accolto positivamente dalla critica. Nel 2019, i Metallica pubblicano il loro secondo album dal vivo, S&M2.
