Dopo il mediocre successo dell’ultimo disco (Push and shove) insieme agli storici “amici” No Doubt, la stupenda Gwen Stefani è finalmente tornata a mettere le mani su un progetto solista, inaugurandolo con la pubblicazione del primo singolo Baby don’t Lie.
Il pezzo è estremamente (e lo ripetiamo, estremamente) radiofonico e strizza l’occhio ad un certo tipo di raggae-pop che ha fatto la fortuna di un’artista spacca-classifiche come Rihanna: non c’è dubbio alcuno che il potenziale per raggiungere un successo internazionale sia altissimo, ma allo stesso tempo c’è da dire che Baby don’t lie ha quel “carattere” squisitamente commerciale che rischia di darci la nausea già al terzo ascolto.
